    Guitar Buying Guide

    Wood Type

The wood, or tonewood, on guitars affects how they sound. It’s common for guitars to have different types of wood for the top and bottom of the body, neck, headstock and fretboard, as luthiers mix and match tonewoods to create a specific sound. The best tonewoods are the ones that sound great to you.

    Comfort

Looks and sounds aren’t everything when buying a guitar. If you’re a serious player, make comfort a priority too. A guitar’s neck and body should feel comfortable in your hands, and the instrument should not seem too heavy.

    Acoustic versus Electric Guitars

When making the choice between acoustic and electric guitars, consider your budget and the style of music that you want to play. Acoustic guitars don’t require special equipment to play them. Electric guitars require at least an amplifier. If you want the best of both worlds, an acoustic-electric guitar or hollow-body electric guitar may be a perfect fit.

When shopping for a new guitar, look for one that you won’t easily outgrow and don’t be afraid to ask questions. At LAWK STAR, our sales team is always happy to assist you with finding the perfect instrument and accessories.
